auto-tune/t-pain

I realize that I posted one of these videos a while back, but this one is pretty much awesomerer.

This video is for the T-Pain-esque iPhone app Auto-Tune (the program used to change the voice). So for anyone with a 2nd gen iPod touch or any iPhone go get it!!!

colorless takeover

I don’t why, but with the last few sets of images I have taken, I have been pulled very strongly to edit them as black-and-white. I have an idea for a “series” of shots that are going to be black and white. The header at the moment is a little sneak peek of what it is. Only you can’t see the whole image here (or see what I have planned in my head).

Also, the overexposed image is B/W too. Geez!!! I feel kinda bad for my brainchild, overexposed. I truly thought it would be an easy-to-update thing on the blog that wouldn’t require me to commit to writing an entire blog post. I realize my last one was short for the words… But I’m gonna try to focus. Really. Try is the keyword.

Moral of the story: Hold Shift and click on the refresh button to make sure you are seeing the new colorless additions.

Side note, does anyone wanna get me one of these?

mini-vacation [over]

So I have been on an unintentional hiatus. I’ve been way busy at work, trying to ride as much as possible to take advantage of the weather, hang out and just do whatever I can. I’ve been meaning to post something, but I seriously haven’t had anything worth writing about.

Until today (well, since Monday but again, I’ve been busy)…. Unfortunately, there isn’t much to write about, just photos.

nothing doing

I know that I haven’t updated anything lately, but, honestly, I haven’t done much of anything. I have been really busy at work which hasn’t left much time for anything worth talking about.

Shauna and I did go to a Smokies baseball game which was a ton of fun! I really love baseball. We also cleaned up the basement a little. It’s still got a ton to be done, but we are taking steps in the right direction.

The only half-way newsworthy thing that has happened lately: I managed to lose the spring to the weed-eater so now it just keeps letting the string feed. UGH! Hopefully, I can find one somewhere.

So, that’s it for now. I hope I have something more interesting soon…

auto-tune the news [awesome]

These are hilarious….

cookout, yay!

Saturday morning, Shauna and I were talking about how we wanted to grill some burgers and that spawned our impromptu cookout.  We sent out a few text messages, made a few calls and were set to grill.

Lucky for me, I didn’t have any problem lighting the charcoal like the last time. Nor did I overload the grill with charcoal, this time, I played it too safe and didn’t have quite enough. It was hot enough to cook, but barely. So we added a few extra pieces of charcoal to one side and were set to go. The burgers and dogs were really good (surprising, I know!). We also picked up a cornhole set, which made for some seriously competitive games. If we’re lucky, maybe the The Blue House Lives will cover it!

I’d also like to add, Congratulations to Stephen and Mica! They got engaged over the weekend while at the beach. (Thanks for setting the bar high asshole!) Congratulations, broseph I’m happy for you guys!

the new family member

Everyone, say hello to Mason. He’s our nine-month old Australian Shepherd. He’s a big, fluffy, cuddling pooch and I couldn’t be more stoked on him! Being young, he likes to gnaw on things, like arms and hands. He is very gentle but we are trying to break him of it (along with a few other things *cough* barking at night *cough*).

Its actually kind of funny how well he and Capone do together. I think Mason wants to play, but Capone really just wants to be on his own. They’re gonna be friends, some day.

I think he may have an overactive bladder, seeing as he likes to go out every couple of hours. Although, he did great last night which was his second night. I think he was calmed down and finally hydrated normally. At least he knows to communicate that he wants to go out by going to the door and giving a little whimper.

I better save some Mason stuff for later, so here he is (plus some extra photos).

a new [wide] angle

I have been on the hunt for a new lens. I knew that I wanted either a wide angle or a nice telephoto. I think the telephoto probably topped my list, but they are much more expensive. I came across a few of the Sigma 17-35 f/2.8-4 lenses used (they are discontinued), but they were just a little bit more than I wanted to spend on a older, used lens.

Finally, I found one on eBay, for around $170 and added it to my watch list. Within a few hours of the lens ending, I clicked my way over to make sure the lens was still in my price range, and I just so happen to find another one listed as “Buy It Now” for $130. At first, I was really skeptical. These usually go for $200+ and I thought the one for $170 was a good deal. So, I looked into the seller more. He had over 20,000 sales and close to 99% positive feedback. That’s a pretty good track-record. I bit the bullet and bought it.

So far, I absolutely love the lens. I wish I could have found the newer HSM (hyper-sonic motor for focusing), but I haven’t even seen one for sale. Luckily, having a new camera, it focuses really quickly, and accurate. I think it was well worth the $130. SWEET!

i’m [back] up and running

After a few days of my computer being down, I am officially back. My iMac was working fine up until Monday or so of last week. I went to log-in and after it took an abnormally long time to do so, I knew something was wrong. Especially after it froze up just as it started to open the first program.

After asking around (ok, I called Stephen), I (we) determined that my hard drive was probably crapping out on me. He came over, we tried to back up my old stuff to no avail. After he left, I had to grit and bear it through multiple close-to-45-minute-startups to get everything I needed onto an external drive.

We thought it might just be the startup disk, but after a failed attempt at repairing it, I gave up. I just decided to wipe the drive and do a complete fresh install of the operating system.

I figured this would work, I was wrong. At this point, I couldn’t even get the computer to start. So I went ahead with my plan to buy a new hard drive. It came yesterday and after installing it, which was much easier than expected, and installing my OS, I now have my computer close to what it was before it died.

I did learn something from all of this, Apple’s Time Machine is not to be taken for granted. I am now making sure to have everything backed up as I go. Next time, I will be prepared.
