When I had my Canon gear, I didn’t really appreciate the awesomeness of my prime lens–the 50mm. It wasn’t until I switched to Nikon and didn’t have a 50mm (or any prime for that matter). I really enjoy using the 50mm f/1.2 when I shoot wedding with Waldorf, but the amazing sharpness and the ability to shoot in low light have ruined me. When we are at a reception where the lighting in less-than-desired, you just can’t beat it.

Unfortunately, there isn’t an updated 50mm for Nikon that has that large of an aperture. This forced me to “settle” with the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. I seriously couldn’t be more stoked!!! I snapped a few shots this evening after I got off work and I can’t wait to use it outside/anywhere with available light. I have seen so many amazing shots online of using this lens, I hope I can make some of my own.
