flashy things

After selling my lens on eBay, I had some extra money. I thought long and hard about what to do with the money. After narrowing it down to a new bike frame or the flashes for my photography (that I have needed forever), I decided to go with the latter. I have known for a long time what flashes I wanted, it was just a matter of spending the money.

I picked up two Sunpak 383 Supers and another small tripod. I am pretty damn excited!

I charged up my batteries and took pictures of the only thing available at the moment–my motorcycle. I figured that it would be good practice since it is black; and also, after this weekend it is going to be almost completely black. I am getting most of the silver parts powder-coated black. Ok, back on track.

The flashes work great with the wireless radio slaves I picked up a while back (yes, also from eBay). This is a very popular set-up, as seen on Strobist sites. About a year or so ago, I bought a couple of Canon flashes to do some flash photography with, and needless to say, they weren’t anything at all like what I had had in mind. So I sold one of them a few months ago. So here I am.

My first set of shots came out better than I had expected. I am also taking into account that I did it in my garage. Not exactly the most exciting backdrop. Enough with my rambling.
